Rio 2016: Omar Assar qualifies to round of 64
Omar Assar turned the ‘tables’ on Brian Afanador and qualified to the next round of the Table Tennis competitions in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Egypt’s Omar Assar impressed when he managed to beat Brian Afanador even though the Puerto Rican dominated the beginning of the match-up; winning the first two sets 11-7 and 11-9.
Nevertheless, the Egyptian kept his ground and turned things upside down; winning four consecutive sets 13-11, 11-9, 11-4, 11-9.
Omar Assar will then face Ukraine’s Kou Lei in the Round of 64 on the 7th of August at 21:53 CLT.
