LIVE: Al Ahly vs Zesco United – 2016 CAF Champions League
KingFut covers the live action as Al Ahly take on Zambia’s Zesco United in a must-win encounter, on matchday five of the 2016 CAF Champions League group stage.
Al Ahly host Zambian outfit Zesco United on Friday evening, as the Egyptians look to push for a top two spot in Group A of the 2016 CAF Champions League.
Manager Martin Jol is under pressure following a string of disappointing results, only punctuated by a hard fought 0-1 win away to Wydad Casablanca in late July.
The Red Devils will be looking to put the disappointment of losing 3-1 to bitter rivals Zamalek in the 2016 Egypt Cup final, as the Whites defeated Al Ahly in the domestic cup final by a two-goal margin for the second consecutive year.
Their opponents, five-time Zambian Premier League champions Zesco United, defeated the Cairo-based side in their earlier encounter, in the first round of group stage matches.
However, the club – owned by Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation – have struggled domestically in 2016, sitting 5th in the league standings with more than half of the season gone.
Al Ahly will be gunning for a win on home soil to keep their rejuvenated qualification hopes alive, as the business end of the competition approaches.
