Another Egyptian wrestler waved goodbye to the Olympics after losing the 59kg event opener. Haitham Mahmoud lost 8-3 to Chol Yun of DPR Korea, bronze winner in the Asian Championship in 2013 and 2014.

Four more Egyptian wrestlers will be competing in the Olympic Games on Monday and Tuesday. These wrestlers are Abdellatif Mohamed, 130kg, Ahmed Mohamed Saad, 85kg, Adham Ahmed Saleh, 66kg, and Hamdy Mostafa, 98kg.
It is worth mentioning that Egypt lost it’s most famous wrestler, Karam Gaber, as the athlete was suspended for two years for evading doping tests. Gaber was the last athlete to bring a golden medal to Egypt and the only one to achieve a medal in the Olympic Games in London 2012
