Bifouma: Egypt enter Congo encounter as ‘favourites’
Congo star Thievy Bifouma has made it clear that his side are eyeing a surprise against Egypt, labelling the Pharaohs as the ‘favourites’.
Hector Cuper’s men kick off their World Cup qualifying campaign against Pierre Lechantre’s side, as the Egyptians eye their first World Cup since 1990.
“It’s been a long time since I last played for the national team,” Bifouma told Congo Brazzaville Football. “It’s always an honor to represent the country, and wear the national team’s colours.
“It’s a very tough game, of course. We know Egypt well, they go into the game as favorites, and it’s up to us to surprise them.
“It’s been a long time since I last scored for the national team; however, I think my last goal came at home, too.
“It’s a big game, Egypt are a very respectable side, and they have some quality players.”
