Egypt have been seeded in pot 3 for the 2017 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations draw after missing the previous edition, according to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The draws for next year’s Africa U-17 Cup of Nations and the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations are scheduled to be held on Monday at the CAF Headquarters in Cairo at 11 am CLT.

The Young Pharaohs, alongside hosts Zambia, Mali, Cameroon, South Africa, Senegal, Sudan and Guinea will all take part in the 20th edition of U-20 tournament set to be held in Zambia between Feb. 26 and March 12.

Defending champions Nigeria and Ghana failed to qualify despite being among the most dominant forces of the competition.

Hosts Zambia were seeded top of Group A, while runners-up of last edition Senegal were seeded top of Group B, according to the CAF.

The ranking, which was determined based on the results of the past edition – the tournament as well as the qualifiers – put Mali and South Africa in pot 2, while Egypt and Cameroon were seeded in pot 3. Sudan and Guinea were seeded fourth.

Egypt failed to qualify for the 2015 Africa U-20 Championship held in Senegal after losing 3-2 on aggregate to Congo in the final qualifying round.

The Young Pharaohs returned for the 2017 tournament after beating Angolan counterparts 5-0 on aggregate in the third round of qualifiers.
