A bright display by Mohamed Salah, including a goal and assist, helped Roma dispatch Palermo 4-1 at the Stadio Olimpico

After a mediocre 3-3 draw in midweek at home to Austria Wien, Roma looked to bounce back in the league.

A lively start from Roma saw the first chance fall for El Shaarawy, who pulled wide from close range.

Roma drew first blood in the 31st minute after Dzeko squeezed the ball through to Salah, who forced his shot under the keeper. This was Salah’s 5th goal in 8 Serie A games this season.

Going into the second half, Juan Jesus was replaced by Alesandro Florenzi. Roma doubled their lead following Posavec’s spilled save from Parades’ free-kick in the 50th minute.

Dzeko slotted a third into the bottom corner after strong link up play around the penalty area, at the 67th minute mark.

Palermo pulled a goal back with Quaison’s deflected shot, which spun agonizingly into Szczesny’s net.

Roma instantly responded in the 82nd minute after Salah slotted El Shaarawy through on goal, whose collected finish made the score 4-1.

Late on, Salah handled the ball in front of a gaping goal which left him in the book.

Roma sit second in Serie A, and face Sassuolo next, on the 26th October.
