Pitso Mosimane targets Zamalek duo ahead of FIFA Club World Cup
Pitso Mosimane revealed his interest in signing two Zamalek players ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns’ participation in the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Sundowns manager Mosimane said, “It was a very difficult encounter and we know it.”
“The match was very difficult and it was obvious that Zamalek would attack in full force, especially Stanley [Ohawuchi] who was very dangerous and could have scored early on.
“We had to remain extremely calm for the first 15 minutes, before looking to control the match,” he continued.
“I was very pleased to learn that [Mahmoud] Shikabala would not be playing from the start, because he is a great player.
“We did not waste time through our goalkeeper; he was genuinely injured,” Mosimane insisted.
When asked about Zamalek’s best player throughout the match, the 52-year-old replied, “Mostafa Fathi, definitely.”
He then praised the winger, before indicating his interest in signing him in the upcoming weeks: “Mostafa Fathi caused us a lot of problems. I hope he can join us ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup.
“[We’re interested in] Mohamed Ibrahim too. We hope he can join us as well in time for the Club World Cup,” he continued.
“Zamalek are a great team despite their loss in the final, but we completely deserved to win the tournament,” Mosimane concluded.
