Gervinho to miss AFCON after ACL rupture
Côte d’Ivoire international Gervinho is set to miss the 2017 CAF Africa Cup of Nations in January, scheduled to take place in Gabon, after injuring his anterior cruciate ligament.
Gervinho is currently playing at Hebei Fortune China in Chinese Super League after completing a move from Mohamed Salah’s Roma earlier in January of this year.
The 29-year-old winger has ruptured his ACL during his Chinese side’s training, the thing which will force him to stay sidelined for six months and, according to France Football.
The former Arsenal attacker has flown to France to undergo further tests in order to know the exact extent of the injury, the report mentions.
Côte d’Ivoire have been drawn in AFCON’s Group C along with DR Congo, Morocco and Togo.
