Hefny excluded as Zamalek announce squad to face Smouha

Zamalek coach Momen Soliman has announced his 20-man squad to face Smouha in the sixth round of the Egyptian Premier League.

After losing the CAF Champions League final on aggregate against Mamelodi Sundowns, Zamalek return to the local action as they take on second-placed Smouha.

Soliman has decided to exclude some of his players who featured against Sundowns; Ayman Hefny, Tarek Hamed, Mahmoud Abdel-Razek ‘Shikabala’ will miss the game.

The 42-year-old has also decided to exclude Islam Gamal yet again, after the defender did not feature against Sundowns for technical reasons.

On the other hand, new signing Ahmed Refaat has featured in the team’s squad for the first time since joining the club.

Zamalek squad:

Goalkeepers: Ahmed El-Shennawy, Mahmoud Gennesh

Defenders: Ali Gabr, Ossama Ibrahim, Shawky El-Said, Mohamed Nassef, Hosni Fathi, Mahmoud Hamdi ‘El-Wensh’, Ahmed Dweidar

Midfielders: Ramzy Khaled, Ahmed Tawfik, Mostafa Fathi, Salah Rico, Mahmoud Dunga, Ibrahim Salah, Ahmed Refaat

Forwards: Ahmed Gaafar, Stanley Ohawuchi, Emmanuel Mayuka, Bassem Morsy

Zamalek have played a single game in the 2016/17 Egyptian Premier League, beating Nasr Lel Ta’adeen 2-0.
