EXCLUSIVE: El-Sayed to take up coaching role at Zamalek

Former Zamalek captain and goalkeeper, Abdel-Wahed El-Sayed confirmed to Kingfut that the past problems with the club have been resolved and he will take up a coaching role in the youth ranks.

Zamalek’s Club president, Mortada Mansour had previously offered El-Sayed, who captained the team he served 16 years at, a role to be a club director.

The pair also got into a dispute as El-Sayed’s request for his remaining allowances at the club was met with a disapproval from Mansour.

This resulted in El-Sayed taking matter to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) along with a court order. Mansour then attack the player on television doubting his loyalty to the White Castle, as his actions could have resulted in a transfer ban on the club.

However, Mansour and El-Sayed met at the club’s headquarter to resolve the issue.

Details of the meeting have not been discussed in public, however Mansour accused former board member, Ahmed Soliman of blowing the problem out of proportion by false message delivery to the player.

“El-Sayed was one of the people that visited me in jail, we have cleared all the problems between us and cleared any outstanding amounts. He will be offered a role in the coaching staff of the youth teams,” Mansour said.

The step comes in a time where Mansour wants to make peace with long-serving members at the club who have problems.

“We do not want to have problems with anyone who spent a long time at the club. We want to open a new page with everybody. We have solved the previous issue with Ahmed Samir, and now El-Sayed and Mahmoud Fathalla will be next,” Mansour added.
