Ahmed Hassan ‘Koka’ features as Braga edge Belenenses

Egypt international Ahmed Hassan ‘Koka’ came on as a second-half substitute in Braga’s 2-1 win against Belenenses, in the ninth round of the Portuguese Primeira Liga.

Hosts Braga got off to the perfect start in the fifth minute when Ricardo Horta was set up by Pedro Santos, and the former made no mistake as he gave his side an early lead.

Twenty minutes later, striker Nikola Stojiljkovic gave away a penalty and received a yellow card for his troubles, but was spared the embarrassment as Abel Camara failed to convert the spot-kick.

Ahmed Hassan ‘Koka’ replaced Stojiljkovic on the hour mark, in a like-for-like substitution.

With six minutes to play, winger Horta doubled Braga’s lead to all but seal the win for Jose Peseiro’s men.

There was time for a slight scare, however, when Tiago Caeiro halved the deficit in the 88th minute, but Braga held on for the win.

The result sees Braga leapfrog rivals Sporting into third place, and the former club will travel to Maritimo next weekend as they aim to maintain their bid to qualify for the 2016/17 UEFA Champions League.
