Mahmoud Trezeguet’s Royal Excel Mouscron lose to Kortrijk
Mahmoud Hassan ‘Trezeguet’ played all 90 minutes as Royal Excel Mouscron fell to a 0-1 home defeat to Kortrijk on Sunday, in the Belgian Pro League.
Ever since their comfortable 4-1 win over Eupen on October 1, Mouscron had failed to win any of their matches in the league, seeing out draws against Genk and Waasland-Beveren, as well as a loss against KV Mechelen.
Furthermore, the Hainaut-based outfit had failed to score in their last two matches, and were looking to bring that unsavory run to an end on Sunday evening.
The first half was a drab, goalless affair, with neither side managing to truly gain the upper hand and dominate proceedings.
Herve Kage fired the visitors into the lead nine minutes after the break, as the home fans fell silent.
Mouscron were ultimately unable to find a way back into the match, as they slumped to their eight defeat in 13 matches this season.
Up next for the losing side is a trip to face 10-time league champions Standard Liège, with the match scheduled for Sunday, November 6.
