Mohamed Abdel-Shafy assisted Al Ahli’s third goal of the evening, as the reigning Saudi Pro League champions smashed Al Wehda 4-0 on Friday.

Al Ahli came into their match against mid-table side Al Wehda on the back of a resounding 4-1 win against Al Khaleej last weekend, as Mohamed Abdel-Shafy contributed to the cause with an assist.

Syrian sharpshooter Omar Al Somah had scored all four goal on that occasion, and it was no surprise when he opened the scoring against Al Wehda in the 22nd minute.

The hosts failed to add to their goal in the first half, and would have to be content with a one-goal cushion at the break.

14 minutes into the second interval, Ioannis Fetfatzidis doubled the Jeddah outfit’s lead and served to calm the players’ nerve somewhat.

Abdel-Shafy made it two assists in two consecutive games in the 74th minute, when he set up Mustafa Al-Bassas to score the third of the evening and effectively seal the win.

There was still time for a fourth, however, which Abdul-Fattah Assiri duly added in the dying moments of the match.

Al Ahli sit in fourth place in the league standings, three points behind Mahmoud Kahraba’s Al Ittihad.
