AS Roma came from behind to secure a 4-2 victory over Austria Wien in matchday 4 of their UEFA Europa League campaign at the Ernst Happel Stadium on Thursday.

Egypt international Mohamed Salah stayed on the bench the whole game as Edin Dzeko, Daniele De Rossi and Radja Nainggolan scored to avenge their 3-3 home draw with the Austrian side last month.

Austria Wien took the lead after only two minutes following a bright build-up play that led Olarenwaju Kayode to tap in after a dangerous low cross caught Rudiger asleep.

However, the Giallorossi replied quickly as Dzeko tapped in an equaliser in the fourth minute following a similar build-up play and a low cross from Bruno Peres.

After a fumbled Dzeko header from a corner, Daniele De Rossi tapped the rebound into the net to put Roma 2-1 ahead before reaching the 20-minute mark.

Midway through the second-half, Dzeko needed two bites of the cherry to complete his brace after his initial volley rebounded off the post following ElShaarawy’s diagonal cross. The Bosnian calmly slotted away the follow-up to give Roma a two-goal lead.

Roma’s fourth goal came in the 78th minute, when Radja Nainggolan slotted the ball in the bottom corner following a poorly defended free-kick.

In the dying minutes of the game, Austria Wien grabbed a consolation goal as Alexander Grünwald scored a late strike to make the scoreline 4-2 in favour of Roma.

Roma sit atop Group E with 8 points, three clear of Austria Wien. The Giallorossi need one win from their final two games to secure their qualification to the round of 32.
