Amr Warda scores as Panetolikos return to winning ways
Amr Warda scored as Panetolikos returned to winning ways in the Greece Superleague, after defeating AE Larissa 2-1 in Agrinio.
Panetolikos came into the match on the back of two consecutive defeats against Levadiakos and PAS Giannina, and were in need of a positive result ahead of the international break.
Amr Warda received his team’s first booking of the match in the 34th minute, but his second contribution of note was a positive one; the 23-year-old opened the scoring four minutes before the break, to the delight of the home support.
Thomas Nazlidis equalised for Larissa in the 54th minute, as the hosts’ afternoon was in danger of being spoiled.
Warda made way for Marko Markovski in the 70th minute, and it proved to be an inspired change; the Serb fired in the winner with five minutes to spare, to ensure the Canaries went into the international break on a positive note.
Next up for Panetolikos is a trip to Asteras Tripolis, on November 20.
