Hat-trick hero Mohamed Salah secures win for AS Roma
Mohamed Salah scored his first-ever hat-trick at club level on Sunday night, as Roma eased to a comfortable 3-0 win against Bologna in Serie A action.
Within the first three minutes of the game, Bologna had two fantastic opportunities to open the scoring, but luck was on Roma’s side.
As the match progressed, Roma’s midfield seemed very disconnected from the rest of the team.
Nevertheless, Salah scored his first goal in the 13th minute of the first half, thanks to a cruel deflection off a Bologna defender.
A couple of minutes into the second half, the Egypt international had the ball in the back of the net, but was controversially judged to have fouled a Bologna defender during the buildup. Right after the hour mark, Salah got his second, running on to a through ball before finishing neatly.
Salah sealed his first-ever hat-trick in club football in the 71st minute – his other treble came for the national team against Zimbabwe in 2013 – after Dzeko’s shot was initially saved by the keeper.
This result sees Roma remain in second place in the league standings, with 26 points from 12 games.
Next up for Salah is the international break, and Egypt’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Ghana on November 13.
