Ghana’s Football Association has denied reports of a late call-up to Chicago Fire midfielder David Accam to join the Black Stars in their upcoming 2018 World Cup Qualifying match against Egypt on Sunday, November 13th.

American club Chicago Fire released a report on their website claiming that their midfielder Accam received a late call-up to join the Black Stars squad for their 2018 World Cup Qualifying match against Egypt in Alexandria.

However, Ghana’s spokesman Ibrahim Sannie told the media that Accam is not part of the Ghana squad, and has not been given a late call up. The 26-year-old player was not part of the 23-man squad that coach Avram Grant named for the match to be played in Alexandria.

Accam has ended the season on a high as he was named Chicago Fire’s Most Valuable Player, and received the top scorer award, but Ghana head coach Avram Grant has dropped the in-form attacker for the must-win encounter.

With no reports of late injuries, the call-up for Accam came as a surprise with all the 23 players expected to report to camp in Dubai. The team will leave for Egypt on Friday for the crucial clash at the Borg El-Arab Stadium.
