EFA: Borg El-Arab gates will be open to the fans from noon
EFA have confirmed that Borg El-Arab Stadium gates will be open to the fans from noon as the Pharaohs host Ghana on Sunday.
The Egyptian Football Association previously announced that match tickets were sold out as 80,000 fans are expected to fill up Borg El-Arab Stadium hoping for fine performances from the players to boost Egypt’s chance to seal World Cup qualification after 26 years of absence.
“The gates will open for the fans from 12 o’clock, six hours before kick off,’’ EFA manager, Tharwat Sweilam confirmed in televised comments.
“Every ticket has its own entrance gate number written on it. We hope the fans to be committed to ensure easy access for everyone.’’
Sweilam also confirmed the attendance of some ministers in the stands: “Youth and Sports minister Khaled Abdel-Aziz invited all the ministers to attend the match in the last cabinet meeting and 10 ministers will be among the attendees.
“We have also dedicated 300 seats for 57357 hospital children to let them have the chance to encourage the national team from the stands,’’ He concluded.
The fans are in dire need of a great performance from the team with the last encounter against Ghana in the back of their mind; the Pharaohs lost on an aggregate score of 7-3 after a 6-1 humiliating defeat in Kumasi that destroyed the hope of every Egyptian of progressing to the World Cup finals.
Egypt are top of their group after managing to beat Congo away while Ghana are on one point after drawing with Uganda. The match is set to kick off on Sunday at 6 pm in Borg El-Arab Stadium, Alexandria.
