Egypt’s goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary praised his side’s team spirit after beating Ghana 2-0 in the second round of the World Cup qualifiers on Sunday.

El-Hadary kept a clean sheet as the Pharaohs secured a precious 2-0 win over the Black Stars to move top of Group E of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

“There are no stars in our team. The team is the star,” El-Hadary said.

He expressed his gratitude to his teammates, Sherif Ekramy and Ahmed El-Shennawy and his coach Ahmed Nagy, saying they helped him improve his performance.

The veteran goalkeeper congratulated the Egyptian fans over the victory as he led the celebrations on the pitch at Borg El-Arab Stadium after the final whistle.

“I want to send my congratulations to the Egyptian fans…We’ve only one aim, which is qualifying to the World Cup,” he added.
