Zamalek chairman Mortada Mansour said that he would like to see Emad Meteb in a Zamalek shirt in case the player didn’t renew his contract with Al Ahly.

Al Ahly veteran striker Emad Meteb, whose contract expires at the end of the season, is yet to receive a contract extension offer from Al Ahly board.

Amid several reports that Meteb is set to leave Al Ahly, Mansour praised the Red Castle’s striker saying that he is an extremely valuable player.

“Emad Meteb is an extremely valuable player. If he leaves Al Ahly and joins Zamalek he will be like Gamal Abdel Hamid who he did the same thing,” Mansour told Al Assema satellite channel.

Mansour pointed out that he would like to have Meteb in Zamalek, but revealed that won’t be able to open talks to sign the 33-year-old striker in the meantime.

“Meteb is a talented player with a lot of experience. I hope he plays for Zamalek, but this won’t happen unless Al Ahly decide to let him go,” he continued.

“This is an agreement between Al Ahly board and me. I can’t approach any player registered in Al Ahly squad and vise versa,” he concluded.

It is worth mentioning that Meteb’s agent, Nader Shawky stated that it’s possible for his client to join Zamalek or Wadi Degla.

Mohammed Salama is a 20-year-old who fell in love with football since Egypt's AFCON final match against Ivory Coast! Strangely enough an Al Ahly and Al Masry fan locally. In addition, he's a hardcore Bayern Munich supporter.
