Egypt to face Tunisia in pre-AFCON friendly
The Egyptian national team will be hosting Tunisia in a friendly in January in preparation for the 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Egypt national team Sporting Director Ehab Leheita has revealed that the match will take place on Jan.8 to prepare both sides for the 2017 AFCON set to be held in Gabon.
Egypt have been drawn in Group D alongside Mali, Ghana and Uganda, while Tunisia are in Group B alongside North African rivals Algeria, Senegal and Zimbabwe.
Leheita has also confirmed that Egypt’s first match of the AFCON 2017 group stages against Mali will take place on Jan.17.
The tournament is set to start on Jan.14 and to end on Feb.5. Egypt’s group will be situated in Port-Gentil.
The Pharaohs, winners of three successive AFCON titles in 2006, 2008 and 2010, have missed out on the last three editions of the tournament and are surely looking for a decent comeback to re-assert their dominance over the continent.
