VIDEO: Hossam Hassan dismissed as Ismaily hold Al Masry to 1-1 draw
Al Masry manager Hossam Hassan was sent off by the referee, as Ismaily held his team to a 1-1 draw on Thursday evening, in Egyptian Premier League action.
The Port Said outfit came into their clash with Ismaily needing to secure a positive result, after falling to a narrow defeat to Zamalek before the international break.
However, it was Ismaily who took the lead, as Shoukry Naguib dinked the ball over two defenders and into an empty net, after goalkeeper Ahmed Busca had rushed out to block the former’s initial effort.
Al Masry were unable to find an equaliser in the remaining minutes of the first half, and the visitors went into the break with a one-goal advantage.
Ahmed Gomaa pulled his side level in the 75th minute, under controversial circumstances; the referee somehow failed to stop the play with an Ismaily player lying injured inside the penalty area, before Gomaa headed past Mohamed Awad from a corner.
The action was far from over, as Hossam Hassan was sent off late into the match, before the referee awarded 10 minutes of added time.
Neither side managed to find a winner in the dying moments, as the match ended in a draw.
Al Masry currently sit in sixth place in the league standings, although Zamalek could leapfrog them in the table with a win against lowly Tanta on Friday evening.
