Egypt international Mohamed Salah played 60 minutes in Roma’s 2-1 defeat at Atalanta in the 13th round of the Serie A.

Roma started the match poorly, and they didn’t find any rhythm against a side with an excellent home record, as they only lost two league games at their home ground Atleti Azzurri d’Italia this season.

However, at the 29th minute Salah had the chance to open the scoreline, when he found himself one-on-one with Etrit Berisha, who saved his shot.

In the 39th minute, Rafael Tolói blocked Mohamed Salah’s effort with his hand, and Roma were awarded a penalty, which Perotti slotted home.

The Egyptian international continued to miss chances, ending the first-half 1-0 to the visitors.

Thirteen minutes into the second-half, Salah was brought off for Stephan El-Shaarawy, and things quickly went downhill for Roma after that.

In the 62 minute, Atalanta scored the equalising goal through Mattia Caldara, and 15 minutes later they nearly scored their second goal, but Remo Freuler’s effort hit the post.

In the last minute of the game, the hosts were awarded a penalty after Leandro Paredes tackled Alejandro Gomez in the box and Franck Kessié converted it, to end the game 2-1 to the Atalanta.

This result leaves Roma in second place with 26 points from 13 games. Their next game is against Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League on Thursday November 24.
