Ismaily hold Zamalek to goalless draw

Zamalek were forced to settle for a goalless draw against Ismaily in Ismailia in the the 10th round of the Egyptian Premier league.

Ismaily held off the White Knights in Mohamed Salah’s first game as Zamalek’s interim manager after Momen Soliman resigned on Saturday.

Ismaily XI: Mohamad Awad; Sherif Hazem, Mohamed Adel Gomaa, Mohamed Abo El Magd, Sameh Abdel Fadil, Baher El Mohammady; Hosny Abdrabou, Ibrahim Hassan, Mohamed Fathi, Torric Jebrin; Shoukry Naguib.

Zamalek XI: Ahmed El Shennawy; Mohamed Nassef, Ahmed Dweidar, Mahmoud Hamdy, Hosny Fathi; Shikabala, Ayman Hefny, Tarek Hamed, Mahmoud Abdel Aatei; Ahmed Gaafar, Stanley Ohawuchi.

The first chance of the game came through Ismaily’s Ibrahim Hassan in the eighth minute after his shot from outside the box was saved by Ahmed El-Shennawy.

In the 19th minute, El-Shennawy was forced into another save, denying Ibrahim Hassan’s curled shot after he broke through Zamalek’s defence.

Zamalek’s first chance came in the 25th minute after Ayman Hefny skillfully broke into Ismaily’s box and passed it to Shikabala, but his shot went straight into Awad’s hands.

In the 42nd minute, Shikabala almost opened the scoreline, but his powerful shot from 35 yards out was brilliantly saved by Awad.

In the early minutes of the second half, Hosni Abd-Rabo’s outside of the foot through pass was met by Baher El-Mohammady, whose shot was saved by Ahmed El-Shennawy.

In the 71st minute, Stanley Ohawuchi latched onto Tarek Hamed’s cross but Mohamad Awad easily saved it.

Torric Jebrin came close to breaking the deadlock, but his header from Adel Gomaa’s cross down the left side went just wide.

In the 85th minute, Stanley came very close to scoring, but his weak shot from inside the box was saved by Awad.

Substitute Ibrahim Salah almost scored for the White Knights in their most dangerous chance of the game. Salah headed Marouf Yousef’s corner into the bar, before Stanley missed the rebound.

The result means that Zamalek are now 9th in the Egyptian Premier League with 14 points from six games, while Ismaily sit 10th with 13 points from 10 games.
