Abdel-Shafy plays 90 minutes as Al Ahli suffer third league loss

Mohamed Abdel-Shafy

Egypt’s Mohamed Abdel-Shafy plays full 90 minutes, as Al Ahli suffers third league loss against Al Hilal.

The first half lacked energy and action, except for a couple of dangerous chances by both sides.

Al Hilal dominated most of the first half as they managed to break the dead-lock just 27 minutes into the game, as Leo Bonatini managed to find the back of Al Ahli’s net with an accurately placed header.

Just 14 minutes into the second half, Carlos Eduardo doubled Al Hilal’s lead, after converting an accurate ground cross past Al Ahli’s goalkeeper.

The league’s top scorer Omar Al Somah managed to pull one back for the home side at the 93rd minute, as he placed an accurate free-kick at the top right corner making it 1-2.

However, Al Somah’s late effort wasn’t enough for Al Ahli to secure a point against Al Hilal, marking The Classy’s third league loss this season.

Following the loss, Al Ahli currently occupies the third spot in the league table with 19 points from 10 matches, while Al Hilal top the league table with 24 points.

Mohammed Salama is a 20-year-old who fell in love with football since Egypt's AFCON final match against Ivory Coast! Strangely enough an Al Ahly and Al Masry fan locally. In addition, he's a hardcore Bayern Munich supporter.
