Spalletti: Mohamed Salah doesn’t trust his right foot
Roma manager Luciano Spalletti spoke about Mohamed Salah’s performance following his side 4-1 victory over Viktoria Plzeň at Stadio Olimpico in the Europa League.
A hat-trick from Edin Džeko and a wonder goal from Diego Perotti secured Roma’s place in the Europa League round of 32 as the Italian side currently sit top of Group E with 11 points from five matches.
“It’s never easy to win in Europe because there are no easy teams. Look at what happened to Bayern in the Champions League [on Wednesday], losing to Rostov. It wasn’t easy for us to clinch the points tonight either. You have to battle to win every game but I must say we played well tonight,” Spalletti said in the post-match press conference.
When asked about Mohammed Salah and if he can get cooler in front of the goal, Spalleti said: “Momo doesn’t miss certain shots in training, but it’s hard to simulate the rush you get in a one on one in a match when you’re on the training ground.’’
“He doesn’t trust his right foot. Lefties rely on their favorite foot, whereas right-footed players tend to go for shots with their left too.’’ Spalletti concluded.
