A dominant first-half  from AS Roma ensured a 3-2 win over Pescara at the Stadio Olimpico. Mohamed Salah played the full 90 minutes but was subbed off in injury time.

Roma’s flying start to the game saw their first chance of the game, which was rewarded with their first goal of the night; Salah’s lay-off from a corner was followed by a fine cross from Radja Nainggolan, who picked out Edin Dzeko before the latter produced an excellent finish.

Just three minutes later, Diego Perotti’s sublime chipped through-ball found Edin Dzeko who completed his brace.

Just before the half-time whistle, Perotti was involved again when his cross met Edin Dzeko, who was lurking at the far post seeking a hat-trick, but his header went inches off-target.

Pescara produced their first real threat on Wojciech Szczęsny’s goal on the hour-mark, as Valerio Verre’s shot forced a great save from the Pole.

The away side kept applying more and more pressure, and it was no surprise when Ledian Memushaj fired a powerful strike to get Pescara back into the match.

A cynical foul in the box from Alessandro Crescenzi on Perotti gave the referee no choice but to award Roma a 70th-minute penalty. The Argentine converted successfully from the spot to ensure a 2 goal lead for the second time.

Gianluca Caprari scored three minutes later to ensure an edgy finish to the encounter, but Roma managed to hold on for a valuable win.

With this win, Roma remain in second place, and have closed the gap to only four points behind leaders Juventus who suffered a 3-0 loss earlier in the day against Genoa.
