Cúper, El-Hadary votes for FIFA awards are revealed
Egypt manager Héctor Cúper and captain Essam El-Hadary have named 2016 FIFA world player of the year and manager of the year.
The FIFA awards are voted by the managers and captains of the national teams of FIFA’s members countries.
Cúper has named his compatriot Lionel Messi as world player of the year, following him are Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Agüero as the second and third players respectively.
The Argentine manager also chose Mamelodi Sundowns’ Khama Billiat as African-based player of the year, Egypt’s Mohamed Salah as African player of the year and Pitso Mosimane as African manager of the year.
Diego Simeone, Pep Guardiola, and José Mourinho in order were Cúper’s three choices as managers of the year.
On the other hand, Egypt’s captain Essam El-Hadary has named Cristiano Ronaldo as world player of the year, Messi and Antoine Griezmann as the second and third respectively.
The 43-year-old picked Diego Simeone as manager of the year, following him are Real Madrid’s manager Zinedine Zidane and Barcelona’s Luis Enrique.
The winners will be announced at the best FIFA football awards ceremony in Zürich on January 9, 2017.
