Mohamed Sanad shines as La Rioja loss in EHF Champions League

Mohamed Sanad’s Club Balonmano Naturhouse La Rioja lose to Montpellier in the eighth round of the EHF Champions league in France.

Egyptian Mohamed Sanad shined in his team’s 27-37 loss against Montpellier as he scored 5 goals in the the away leg against the group leaders in France. It is worth mentioning that La Rioja beat Montpellier in the first match of the group in October.

This was a very important win for Montpellier as they are now through to the play-offs. Patrice Canayer, Montpellier coach, said after the match,”We wanted to play with a lot of intensity as we knew we could qualify for the next round with a victory here.”

La Rioja lie second with 9 points behind Montpellier who are at 12 points. The Spanish side still has two matches left against Macedonian HC Metalrug and Slovakian Tatran Presov.
