SQUASH: Egypt beat India in Women's World Team Championships

Egypt’s women squash team managed to beat India 3-0 in the opening day of Women’s World Team Squash Championships.

Egypt, represented by World No.1 Nour El Sherbini, World No.3 Nouran Gohar, World No.8 Omneya Abdel Kawy, and World No.4 Raneem El Welily defeated India, represented by Sunaya Kuruvilla, Joshna Chinappa, and Dipika Pallikal Karthik.

In the first game, Omneya Abdel Kawy, who is featuring in her 10th WWTC, took just 18 minutes to beat Sunaya Kuruvilla 3-0 (11-7, 11-7, 11-2), before El-Sherbini beat Chinappa by the same result in 34 minutes (11-5, 11-6, 15-13).

In the last game, 19-year-old Nouran Gohar defeated Dipika Pallikal Karthik 3-1 (4-11, 11-7, 11-4, 11-9) in 39 minutes. The Egyptian lost the first game 4-11 but came back to win the next 3 games, to win her first match in the senior Egyptian team.

It’s worth mentioning that the tournament is held in Issy-les-Moulineaux, France and will take place from November 27 to December 3, 2016.
