Junior Ajayi determined to justify Al Ahly transfer fee
Nigerian striker Junior Ajayi is determined to justify the transfer fee paid by Al Ahly during the summer transfer window to secure his services.
The 20-year-old made a $2 million switch from Tunisian outfit CS Sfaxien to reigning Egyptian Premier League champions Al Ahly.
Speaking to Africanfootball, Ajayi claimed, “I need to justify the huge amount of money spent on me by the Egyptian club.”
“So, I thank God I am doing well by scoring goals, that is the main reason why I was bought. I can still do more by scoring many goals for my club, what I need is just to remain focus, he continued.
Ajayi scored in Al Ahly’s 3-0 win over bottom club Nasr Lel Ta’adeen on Sunday evening, to take his tally to four league goals in six appearances.
“I am really enjoying my time in the Egyptian league, which is a good league with very good structure and organisation and above all the fans who troop to the stadium to watch the matches are incredible. The support and love for the game is something else,” he enthused.
“I have played in the Nigeria league, the league in Tunisia and now I am featuring in the Egyptian league. The leagues across Africa have really grown,” the striker concluded.
Ajayi featured for the Nigeria U23s at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, where the Super Eagles won bronze after a 3-2 victory over Honduras in the third-place play-off.
