Zamalek SC dropped more points after drawing 1-1 with Mido’s Wadi Degla in the 12th round of the Egyptian Premier League at Al-Salam Stadium.

Ahmed Hossam ‘Mido’s Wadi Degla were left with a point after drawing 1-1 with his former club in his first managerial encounter against Zamalek SC.

Zamalek XI: Ahmed El Shennawy; Mohamed Nassef, Ali Gabr, Mahmoud Hamdy, Hosny Fathi; Tarek Hamed, Ibrahim Salah, Moruf Youssef; Shikabala, Bassem Morsy.

Wadi Degla XI: Mahmoud Reda; Ahmed El Esh, Mahmoud Alaa, El Sayed Salem, Boubacar Diara, Mohamed Anwar; Mostafa Talaat, Hossam Arafaat, Mostafa Galal; Arafa El Sayed, Mohamed Helal.

Play was constricted in the middle of the park throughout the first half with no significant chances other than Mohamed Helal’s disallowed goal.

Helal volleyed in Hossam Arafat’s cross from the right side but the goal was called offside in a very tough and controversial decision from the lineman as, after seeing the replay, many would disagree with the official’s call.

Wadi Degla manager, Mido, was sent to the stands at half-time after showing the referee footage of the disallowed goal.

Tarek Hamed was on target in the 58th minute after volleying in Zamalek’s cross from outside the box but Degla’s keeper Mohamed Reda parried Hamed’s powerful shot away.

Arafa El-Sayed came close from scoring as he headed in a foul from inside of the area, but Shennawy incredibly saved it in the 67th minute.

In the 83rd minute, Ali Gabr’s header hit Reda’s left post, but that wasn’t the end of it as just one minute later Wadi Degla won a foul in Zamalek’s midfield which Mahmoud Alaa latched onto it and scored the first goal of the night.

Zamalek equalized in the 90th minute through Ali Gabr who superbly volleyed in a cross from the left flank.

Two minutes into stoppage time, team captain, Ibrahim Salah came close from scoring the winner after he headed in a cross from the right side. However, Mahmoud Reda saved Degla from a last minute winner and salvaged them a point.

Zamalek are now 6th in the league with 18 points from only 8 games while Wadi Degla lie two spots beneath them with 16 points.
