Uganda announce provisional squad for AFCON 2017

Egypt group rivals Uganda have named their 40-man provisional squad that is set to represent the country in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

Uganda have been drawn along with Egypt, Ghana and Mali in Group D of the African competition, with the group’s encounters scheduled to take place in Libreville, Gabon.

The Cranes, coincidentally, are also with Egypt and The Black Stars in the same group of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers. Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic’s side is in the second place with four points from two games behind The Pharaohs who are in the lead with six points.

Uganda’s provisional squad for AFCON:

Goalkeepers: Denis Onyango, Robert Odongkara, Jamal Salim, Isma Watenga, Benjamin Ochan

Defenders: Ronald Mukiibi, Denis Iguma, Joseph Nsubuga, Nicholas Wadada, Joseph Ochaya, Shafiq Batambuze, Murushid Juuko, Isaac Isinde, Timothy Awany, Richard Kassaga Jjuuko, Halid Lwaliwa,  Rashid Toha

Midfielders: Khalid Aucho, Tonny Mawejje, Hassan Wasswa Mawanda, Mike Azira, Geoffrey Kizito, Kizito Keziron, Muzamiru Mutyaba, Yassar Mugerwa, Saddam Juma, Moses Oloya, William Kizito Luwagga, Godfrey ‘Jajja Walu’ Walusimbi, Paul Mucurezi, Martin Kiiza, Abdulmalick Vitalis Tabu
