Amr Warda scores only goal in Panetolikos Greek Cup win

Amr Warda, Greek Cup
Egypt international Amr Warda scored in Panetolikos’ win over Panthrakikos in Round Two of the Greek Cup on Wednesday.

Panetolikos was in third place of Group G behind Panthrakikos and Atromitos, both having three points from one game played. In the first game of round two, Atromitos beat Panetolikos 1-0 in a tough game.

Ahead of the match, Panetolikos had the upper hand in the head-to-head record over Panthrakikos having won three out of their last matches, and drawing in the other two.

Panetolikos played in front of their fans and they dominated the rhythm of the match since the starting whistle. In the 12th minute, the hosts were awarded a penalty and Warda successfully converted it into the first goal.

Warda and his teammates continued to threaten Panthrakikos’ goal but were unsuccessful in doubling the lead. Panetolikos midfielder Emmanuel Ledesma’s wide shot was the closest the host were to scoring the second goal in the first half.

In the second half, the same scenario was played out with both teams showing similar displays.

Panetolikos remained in third place with three points from two games, with Atromitos having a game in hand. The teams in the first two spots progress to the next round. On December 13, Panetolikos will face Kallithea.
