Arsène Wenger explained to official website why he substituted Mohamed Elneny before half time against Southampton in the English Football League Cup.

Amid Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat against Southampton at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday in the quarter final, Arsène Wenger explained why he took off Elneny in the 43rd minute.

Wenger said,”He was sick before the game. He decided he felt well enough. I could see after five or 10 minutes that he was not right. He has no medical injury problem, but he has diarrhea or a stomach problem.”

Southampton is set to face Liverpool while Mohammady’s Hull City will face Manchester United at Old Trafford in the EFL semi-final making him the only Egyptian left to have a chance in winning the cup.
