AS Roma have received a huge blow as Egyptian International Mohamed Salah will miss Derby della Capitale against Lazio next Sunday, after sustaining an injury to his right ankle ligaments.

The Egyptian winger has picked up an ankle injury in a training session last Wednesday, after a hard challenge from Belgian defender Thomas Vermaelen that forced him out of the training.

It has been mentioned that Salah has received few therapists to reduce the swelling but it is believed that the ankle ligaments have been involved, taking him out of the Rome Derby against Lazio on Sunday.

The 24-year-old winger underwent an MRI test to evaluate the extent of the ankle ligament affection, which has shown that he suffers from a lesion in the outer lateral ligament of his right ankle with associated involvement of muscle-tendon junction, according to Roma’s official statement.

Furthemore, The Giallorossi also announced that on Friday morning Salah underwent further tests which confirmed the original diagnosis. The Egypt international will continue working on his recovery plan and should be out for three weeks.
