Mahmoud Fayez: Salah will be fit in time for AFCON
AS Roma official website announced that scans revealed that Salah damaged his exterior ligaments on his right ankle which in return, affected his front and lateral muscles and tendons.
Speaking to CBC Extra satellite channel, Fayez has ruled out claims to Salah’s long absence: “He is really excited for a quick return, he could be out for only three weeks.”
“Salah literally told me that he is going to do whatever it takes to travel with the national team to Gabon, even if he has to travel with on one leg,” he added.
“We were hoping to see Salah in Roma’s major clashes with Lazio, Milan and Juventus but what’s important now is his health and our reassurance,” he concluded.
The Pharaohs, winners of three successive AFCON titles in 2006, 2008 and 2010, have missed out on the last three editions of the tournament. They have been drawn in Group D alongside Mali, Ghana and Uganda, and their first game will be against Mali on Jan.17.
