Afriyie: I advice Al-Ahly to sign Ebenezer Assifuah
Former general supervisor of Ghana national youth teams George Afriyie believes that Ebenezer Assifuah could be the solution to Al Ahly’s attacking problems.
Al Ahly manager Hossam El-Badry has said before that he wants to sign a foreign striker, and the club is now monitoring Assifuah to solve their attacking problems.
The 23-year-old was part of the Ghana team that qualified to the final game of the 2013 U-20 AFCON in Algeria, when they lost to Egypt on penalties, and he caught the eyes of several European clubs, including Italian side Udinese.
“Ebenezer Assifuah is a world class player. I know him very well,” George Afriyie told YallaKora website.
“He is unlucky at Sion, as the manager doesn’t give him any chances to play unlike the last season when he was a starter. He is not going to extend his contract with the Swiss club and will leave at the end of the season.
“I advice Al-Ahly to sign him, I know they are looking for a complete forward and Assifuah can do this role very well,” the Ghanaian concluded.
It’s worth mentioning that Assifuah was a member of the Ghana Under-20 national team that took part in the 2013 U-20 World Cup in Turkey, and he finished the tournament as the top goal scorer with 6 goals.
