Spalletti comments on Salah’s absence ahead of Rome Derby

Salah Spalletti

Roma coach, Luciano Spalletti made comments on the absence of Mohamed Salah, ahead of the sides derby match against Lazio.

The Egyptian forward suffered an injury that will sideline him for the next three weeks. But he should be  ready for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Luciano Spalletti began by commenting on the injury situation of the team and confirmed that Salah, with teammate Paredes, was working separately. He also mentioned that El Shaarawy, a player with Egyptian roots, was training with the team.

The Roma coach also revealed how long he expects Salah to be sidelined. “Salah, as you know, will not be in the race tomorrow and probably won’t be ready for the next.”

But he did not seem to concern with the setback, instead Spalletti was confident that AS Roma would adapt. “Regardless of the formation (without Salah), we’ll set out to play football.”

The Egyptian forward has scored eight goals and made four assists in 14 matches for AS Roma, this season.

I have dedicated part of my time in this bad world to following African football. From CECAFA to WAFU, COSAFA to UNAF & even the forgotten UNIFFAC.
