Mansour: Zamalek won’t continue the league
Zamalek president Mortada Mansour revealed that the team will not continue playing in the Egyptian Premier League this season after Al Ahly and Misr El-Maqassa match.
Al Ahly clinched an important league win on Sunday after defeating Misr El-Maqassa 1-0 in a match that saw controversy regarding decisions made by referee Ibrahim Nour El-Dein. This triggered Mansour and Zamalek’s officials to make such a bold call.
“We are forfeiting the league as long as Ibrahim Nour El-Dein is among the league’s referees,” Mansour commented. He also said that he had a call with the EFA’s president to let him know that “Nour El-Dein is a corrupt referee,” and that he will not stand still.
“No backing down, he must leave first. I already made great accomplishments with the team by winning back both the league title and Egypt Cup, in addition to turning the club into an international institution,” he added.
