Ismaily threatens to forfeit the league

Ismaily club warned in an official letter that the team might forfeit the Egyptian Premier League over refereeing decisions and “corruption” in the league.

Ismaily are following in the footsteps of Zamalek who decided to withdraw from the league after a controversial penalty ruled by referee Ibrahim Nour El-Dein in Al Ahly and Misr El-Maqassa match.

“The administration is thinking about withdrawing from the league because of the referees injustices towards the club since the season started,” club president Ibrahim Othman said in an official statement.

Ismaily asked the Egyptian Football Association to review three essential points; the return of the fans to the stadiums, the refereeing committee performance in the past period and the affiliation of some of the referees to governmental sectors.

At the end of the statement, the Daraweesh administration pointed out that a general assembly will be held soon to take a decision regarding freezing the club’s football activity.
