Egypt international Karim Hafez played the full 90 minutes as RC Lens suffered a 3-1 defeat to Strasbourg in gameweek 18 of Ligue 2.

Jeremy Grimm gave Strasbourg the lead early in the first half as he opened the scoring after nine minutes. The hosts then doubled their lead at the half-hour mark through Stephane Bahoken.

Hafez was booked just before half time as his side went into the break trailing 2-0 at Stade de la Meinau.

Ernest Seka put the game to bed with 20 minutes to go when he scored his side’s third goal of the game, making it 3-0.

The guests pulled one back courtesy of a Cristian Lopez penalty in the 78th minute. They failed to add more goals as Strasbourg won 3-1 to end Lens’ six-game unbeaten streak at Ligue 2.

Hafez’s side now sit third in the league standings on 29 points, level on points with sixth-placed Strasbourg. They are five points away from leaders Brest.

Lens will host GFC Ajaccio, who sit 10th on 24 points, on Dec. 17.
