Nabih explains how Egypt uses Salah and Elneny
Egypt national team assistant coach, Osama Nabih, spoke about the criticism given to the staff for depending on Mohamed Salah’s speed and discussed Elneny’s performance.
The staff were occasionally judged about using this tactic in addition to fans judging elneny’s performance with the national team and comparing it to his performance with Arsenal.
Nabih commented on the common phrase heard from the benches in the national team’s matches “Pass the ball to Salah” by saying that “It’s a normal phrase for us. Roma manager Luciano Spalletti depends a lot on Salah in the same way,” he explained to Nogoum FM radio station.
“Using Salah’s potential helped attract opponents more to him, thus giving more space for a player like Trezeguet to shine,” he added. “And even when opponents are focusing on Salah he always manages to score goals and represent Egypt’s offense power.”
The ex-Zamalek player and assistant coach argued that big clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid depend on their key players Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
As for Elneny and his recent disappointing performance with the national team, Nabih thinks that it is unfortunate. “Fans judge the player only when he has the ball but not when he is performing other functions without it. This is more important to us,” he added.
Nabih proved his disagreement by pointing out that Elneny’s roles with Arsenal are sometimes different than his roles with Egypt. “Elneny is an amazing player, always closing on gaps and completing the needed tasks during games.”
