Zamalek returned back to winning ways after beating Petrojet 1-0 in the 15th round of the 2016 Egyptian Premier League at home.

Mohamed Helmy made five changes to the starting eleven for Petrojet’s clash, bringing on Mayuka, Osama Ibrahim, Moruf Yusuf, Salah Rico, Stanley Ohawuchi for Bassem Morsi, Hosni Fathi, Hefny, Dunga and Ahmed Refaat respectively.

The hosts were in command of the game until proximity the half hour mark when Ahmed El-Shennawy brilliantly kept out a powerful shot from Petrojet’s Kareem Tarek.

Moments later, Stanley Ohawuchi had a penalty call after being brought down in the box, but the referee turned a blind eye and kept the play going.

Kareem Tarek was doing all the works for the visitors as his effort went slightly over the bar before half-time. However, he went from hero to zero after turning the ball into his own net in the 61st minute to give Zamalek the lead.

Both sides came close to scoring, but nothing materialized as Tarek’s own goal was the only strike of the encounter.

This victory sees Zamalek move from seventh place to fifth, while Petrojet moved down to sixth place. The White knights’ next game will be against Ittihad of Alexandria on December 17.
