Mohamed Salah made his first appearance since returning from a training injury, but could not prevent Roma from falling to a 1-0 loss to rivals Juvenuts on Saturday evening, in Serie A action.

The Egypt international was included in the matchday squad for the first time since his injury, which came at the end of November.

In the 15th minute, Gonzalo Higuain dribbled past two challenges before finishing in the top corner.

Radja Nainggolan came close to equalising ten minutes later, but his shot on Gianluigi Buffon’s goal hit the side netting.

Stephan El Shaarawy almost made it 1-1 in the 86th minute, but his header was brilliantly tipped over the bar by the excellent Buffon.

The win sees Juventus stretch their lead over Roma at the top of the table to seven points. The visitors remain in second place, two points ahead of AC Milan as the halfway point of the season approaches.
