Egypt beach soccer team was able to secure third place in the 2016 Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations after beating Morocco 4-1 at the Eko Atlantic Beach Lagos, Nigeria.

Egypt reached the semi-finals after defeating Côte d’Ivoire 4-2, however, the team later lost from Senegal in the semi-final match 5-2.

The match started with a balanced domination between both teams until the Pharaohs took the lead through El-Moatazzbellah Samy after six minutes. Egypt’s defence stood their ground afterwards and stopped the moroccan team’s attempts to snatch a draw.

Moustafa Samir doubled Egypt’s lead as he scored the second goal from a perfect strike, two minutes before the end of the first period.

Apparently, the Pharaohs were hungry for more, as five minutes into the second part Hassan Mohamed added a third goal making the score 3-0. With one minute left in the second period, the Egyptian team did not stop and managed to secure their bronze medal scoring the fourth goal.

As the match restarted, the Moroccan side were still not willing to leave the game like that and proved that through Anas El Hadaoui scoring his team’s only goal to end the second period 4-1. In the final period Morocco started a hard quest to catch up with the Egyptians but there was no way back to the game since Egypt’s defenders were still closing on their attempts.

Senegal won the championship after beating hosts Nigeria 8-4. The two teams will represent the African continent at the Beach Soccer World Cup in 2017 in the Bahamas.
