Head of refereeing committee Reda El-Beltagy resigns

Head of referees Reda El-Beltagy resigns
Head of the refereeing committee in the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) Reda El-Beltagy has resigned from his post.

El-Beltagy resigned following Zamalek’s Chairman Mortada Mansour criticism, as the latter demanded the EFA to sack the head of the refereeing committee in an official letter sent to them.

The White Knights wanted El-Beltagy sacked after refereeing controversy in the league match between Al Ahly and Misr El-Maqassa, which the Red Devils won 1-0 thanks to Abdallah El-Said’s penalty.

“I resigned after finding out that I couldn’t work under these circumstances anymore,” El-Beltagy said.

“I have put a plan to develop the Egyptian refereeing. However, the atmosphere did not encourage me to do so,” he added.

The resignation came just two months after El-Beltagy was announced as the head of the refereeing committee and his successor is yet to be announced by the EFA.
