Bassem Morsy scored to give Zamalek a narrow 1-0 victory over Entag El-Harby in a postponed game from gameweek 1 of the Egyptian Premier League.

Zamalek was in full control of the game when a handball by Saleh Mousa inside the box led to a penalty being awarded to Zamalek just after the quarter-hour mark. However, Shikabala’s penalty and his follow-up header were saved by Entag keeper Amer Amer.

The half got a little worse for Zamalek when Ayman Hefny was forced off the field following an injury and was replaced by Stanley Ohawuchi.

In the second half, Zamalek played very much like they did before the break; controlling the possession and going closest to scoring.

In the 78th minute, Morsy scored the winner for Zamalek from close range when substitute Mohamed Ibrahim’s cross found the Egyptian international striker inside the box.

This result puts Zamalek in third place on 31 points from 13 games and Entag El-Harby in 12th place with 17 points from 16 games.

Zamalek will play another postponed match on Saturday against Sharkia before the Cairo Derby on Dec.29.
