AS Roma manager, Luciano Spalletti insisted that anything could happen during the January transfer window as the club will lose Mohamed Salah’s services for the AFCON next month.

Roma will have to find an adequate replacement for Mohamed Salah if they want to win the Serie A this season after the Egyptian winger was called up to represent his country next month at the AFCON in Gabon.

“The club is alert to anything that might happen. [Mohamed] Salah is off to the African Cup of Nations and we have a few unhappy players because they’ve not played much,’’ Spalletti said following Roma’s 3-1 win against Chievo Verona.

“Everyone always says that we have a light squad but we have players like [Juan Manuel] Iturbe not playing, even though he always trains well. It’s my fault he isn’t playing,” the Italian manager concluded.

The Giallorossi ended 2016 with a 3-1 victory over Chievo Verona, which kept them in second place, four points behind leaders Juventus, but the latter still have one game in hand against 19th-placed Crotone.
