Salah excluded from 2016 CAF Player of the Year final shortlist
Mohamed Salah has been excluded from the final three-man shortlist for the 2016 CAF Player of the Year award, as well as Algeria and Leicester City striker Islam Slimani.
Mohamed Salah had been included in the five-man shortlist for the annual award, which was released in November.
However, votes from managers or technical directors of the national associations affiliated to the African football governing body, the media committee, the technical & football committee and a panel of media experts saw the Egyptian excluded from the final three-man list, along with Algeria’s Islam Slimani.
The Player of the Year and the Africa-based Player of the Year will be unveiled at the Glo-CAF Awards Gala on Thursday, January 5 in Abuja, Nigeria.
